Bianca completed her Honours in Science in 2017 with a focus on plant flammability. Since then, she has been working as a research assistant in FLARE to support various projects within the group. A major focus of her work has involved the improvement of data that is input into the PHOENIX RapidFire bushfire characterisation model. This has included the evaluation of Victoria’s fuel-type inputs, the development of a subjective fuel hazard assessment method, the improvement of house loss prediction algorithms, and the quantification of masticated vegetation as a new fuel-type. Bianca is also a trainee Fire Behaviour Analyst and Emergency Medical Responder with CFA, and has a double degree Education and Science. Outside of work, Bianca enjoys camping, hiking, riding mountain bikes, and hitting the slope on her snowboard.
