Brett Cirulis

Research Officer

Brett completed the Masters of Forest and Ecosystem Science in 2013. Since then he has worked across various projects within the group. He has strong interests in fire simulations, spatial data science and remote sensing technology.  The focus of Brett’s work up until 2016 was related to the research and development of the PHOENIX RapidFire bushfire characterisation model. In particular, the improvement of the fuel inputs through the development of a state-wide fuel classification model. Since 2016, his work has been focused on simulation-based risk analysis and the application of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (drones) for wildfire research. He is motivated to complete research that furthers our understanding of wildfire fundamentals and improves the management of wildfire in the Australian landscape.  Outside of work Brett enjoys spending time outdoors with his family, riding mountain bikes or fishing the local lakes and rivers.
