Charlie Hart

Research Assistant

Charlie is an ecologist currently working on a project evaluating the effectiveness of prescribed burning in reducing wildfire severity and its benefits to ecosystem resilience and threatened species. He earned his Master’s degree in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation from Imperial College London in 2021, where his research focused on the distribution and habitat connectivity of clouded leopards in Borneo.

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Charlie contributed to a project at Imperial that sampled all 17 British bat species for zoonotic diseases, where he mapped their distribution across Britain. Following graduation, he worked for Natural England on the England Peat Map project, which aimed to predict the depth, extent and condition of peatlands across England.

Charlie relocated to Melbourne in early 2024 and now enjoys exploring the outdoors and playing football (the one with the round ball) in his free time.
