Ella is a PhD candidate investigating the effects of fire regimes, climate, and other environmental contexts on plant diversity in heathland ecosystems. She is examining these effects using a combination of field work, glasshouse studies and modelling. Ella is also interested in environmental governance and social equity. Prior to commencing her PhD, Ella worked in program evaluation and design for climate change, natural resource management and emergency management programs. She completed a Master of Environment in 2017, where she quantified how seasonal climate and inter-tree competition drive stem growth in temperate eucalypts. Outside of work, Ella has a keen interest in languages, particularly Spanish and Mandarin.
