Molly is a PhD student exploring the response of forests to increasing hydroclimate variability and extremes, such as droughts, heatwaves, and compound events. She moved to Melbourne from Aotearoa (New Zealand) to complete a Master of Environmental Science, where she explored the self-thinning dynamics of Victoria’s Mountain Ash forests in the context of post-fire water yield. She has worked for the past three years in the Forest Hydrology Research Group, where she led a project investigating the use of surface mulches for mitigating post-fire debris flows, and worked on the development of height-variable forest wind reduction factors to inform fire spread modelling. Outside of work, Molly enjoys getting active outdoors, sewing, reading, and hanging out with her bunny.
