Shona is a fire behaviour analyst focusing on bushfire risk and spatial analysis. They collected a broad range of ecological skills and interests after completing a Master of Science (Biosciences) at the University of Melbourne in quantitative ecology. The underpinning themes of their research is the use of predictive modelling to support management decisions and quantitative methods to validate model performance. Shona has applied this in a range of contexts from their masters research in modelling roadkill risk to recent work with FLARE in areas such as cost-benefits analyses and evaluation metrics for wildfire simulations outputs (such as those produced by PHOENIX RapidFire). In their spare time Shona loves cooking elaborate meals and getting their hands dirty in the garden.
