Torsten Schopf

Masters student

Torsten obtained his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Industrial Engineering from the Baden Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University in September 2020. Since October 2021, he has been pursuing a Master’s program in Technology Management with a specialization in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Stuttgart.

For his second semester abroad, Torsten made the decision to travel to Australia for a research thesis as part of his master’s program. Under the guidance of Dr. Alex Filkov, his research will be centered around the statistical analysis of merging fire behavior, utilizing field data obtained from experiments conducted between 2019 and 2023. His dedication to this project is motivated by his interest in contributing to one of the most crucial research areas concerning climate change and enhancing forest fire response.

In his spare time, Torsten enjoys traveling with his girlfriend and friends, playing soccer as a goalkeeper, and creating drone and GoPro videos.
