Caitlin is a PhD student investigating the role of fungal communities in shaping ecosystem dynamics in temperate heathy woodlands. Based at the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria’s remnant reserve in Cranbourne, her research focuses on how soil-borne fungal communities affect seed germination and whether fire modifies plant–fungi interactions. Since joining FLARE in 2023, Caitlin has worked on several projects including research, What Makes a Good Fire Simulator?, Evidence Briefs for Bushfires, and Evidencing Healthy Djandak (Djaara Country) for Climate Resilience. She is passionate about contributing to land and fire management practices in Australia that respond to the future impacts of climate change whilst engaging with our history of colonisation and the ongoing fight for First Nations sovereignty. Outside of work, Caitlin loves exploring the great outdoors and doing art.
