Denis is originally a forestry engineer from Russia. He started his career working for the Department of Forestry and later for a pipeline construction company where he was responsible for the monitoring of rational use of forest resources and activities in the field. In 2013, Denis decided to become more familiar with the realm of information technology and came to Australia to complete his Master’s degree in IT. He joined FLARE in 2018, and his work is now focused on the development of wildfire modelling. Denis hopes his mix of programming and environmental skills will contribute to a common goal –the better understanding of fire behaviour. Outside of work Denis likes to spend time with his family exploring new places or simply relaxing on the beach.
