Dr. Amy Smith

Research Fellow

Amy is an ecologist interested in the future impact of fire regimes on species and biodiversity. She is currently working as a future fire risk analysist with the FLARE group. Her current research uses fire simulation modelling and future climate scenarios to investigate management approaches that mitigate the impact of bushfire on ecological values and promote ecosystem resilience.

Amy completed her PhD in fire ecology at Melbourne University in 2023. Her thesis investigated the influence of habitat, fire and landscape structure on mammal species and used fire simulation modelling and genetic data to examine the influence of future fire regimes on species connectivity. Outside of work Amy enjoys outdoor activities including walks with her dog, horse riding and playing netball.
