Thomas Matthew

Masters student

Thomas is a Master of Environment student interested in the restoration and adaptation of ecosystems in the light of climate change. He came from an unrelated background in the Electronics and Technology sector before joining the Master’s program to pursue his passion and learn about solutions addressing climate change and biodiversity loss. During the final semester of his Master’s program in 2024, Thomas will be undertaking a research project with the FLARE Wildfire Research group under the supervision of Hamish Clarke. His research project will analyse the impacts of prescribed burning on the diversity of age classes, which is a key factor for biodiversity. Through this project, he  hopes to enhance his research skills further and contribute some useful insights to this area of research.
